Costa Rica in Latin America
is famous for ivarying geography with two coasts that provide much of its significant tourist traffic, with its numerous beaches many remote. One fourth of the country is protected by the government and 12% of the total area lies within one of the 25 National Parks that are found in Costa Rica.
The country's borders are defined by Nicaragua to the North and Panama to the South. Because it is between two continents, and two oceans, this convergence of land and water makes the region a great bottleneck which is rich in ecological diversity.

- Arenal and Hot Springs Resort - The Arenal Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the Americas. From their observation point, you can feel the ground tremble and see the night sky explode with ash and lava in a natural display of fireworks. In the hot springs of the volcano you can relax in the soothing waters and be caressed by the cool night air while observing the stars and the incredible night sky above the volcano.
- Lankester Gardens - The Lankester Gardens are a Tropical Paradise featuring over 800 varieties of exotic orchids, various tropical flowers, and plant life.
- Monteverde Biological Reserve - Monteverde is famous for the beauty and exuberance of the Cloud Forest Reserve. It offers the visitor a large variety of trees, flowers and birds.

Dates for Your Diary - San Jose Easter Celebrations - Many events are held in and around San José during Easter Holy Week (Semana Santa) from Wednesday - Sunday.
- University Week - During University Week, taking place around the beginning of May, University of Costa Rica students crown a queen, and participate in sports events and a parade. Many local bands also perform on campus. This is a great time to investigate what college life is like here.
- Year's end fiestas - Held in December it starts with the distribution of the aguinaldo, the annual bonus given to salaried workers. Sidewalks are crowded with chinamos stalls which sell toys, nativity creche paraphernalia, and fruit such as apples and grapes it is the city's liveliest time during the month of December.
