Le Haut-Var - Vast, dense forests where one can discover truffles or mushrooms and sometimes even wild boar. One can almost believe in time travel as you journey between historic old villages perched high in the mountains. If hiking is your thing, there are opportunities galore in les Gorges du Verdon for watersport fans, the many lakes and rivers of the region provide canoeing, fishing and sailing facilities.

L'Arrière-Pays Varois - This is the interior of the Var formed by hills and valleys, plantations and pine forests. This is also the major wine producing area with in excess of 400 different producers cultivating 90,000 acres of vineyards. The fruit, vegetables, honey, lavender, thyme, and olive oil produced in this region are probably the best in the world. The food and wines of the region are better than I have the power to describe.

The Var Coast - 300 km of shoreline on the Mediterranean Sea. Beautiful sandy beaches, majestic cliffs all combine to be a tourist's dream. Do visit the towns - some well known playgrounds of the rich and famous such as St Tropez and some less well known such as Bandol, le Lavandou, and St Cyr.
