Lebanon is a small country and is bounded by Syria on both the north and east and by Israel on the south. Most of Lebanon has a Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers, and cool, wet winters so for sun worshippers, the time to come to Lebanon is the summer season from June to mid-September. As well as a great climate Lebanon is amass with ancient cities and Roman ruins yet also now offers luxurious ski resorts as well. There aren't that many sandy beaches on the Lebanese coast so much of the swimming is from rocks or artificial platforms built on jetties. Sandy beaches of note however are in the far south of the country, just south of Tyre.

Must see in Lebanon

  • Pigeon Rocks - Beirut - These are the most famous natural feature of Beirut. They are in fact offshore rock arches which complement Beirut's dramatic cliffline. It is a great place to watch the sunset.
  • Baalbek's temple - This complex is one of the largest in the world and is in Baalbek itself approx. 53 miles northeast of Beirut . The complex is about 300m (984ft) long and has two temples with porticoes, two courtyards and an enclosure built during the Arab period.
  • Tripoli - Situated approx. 52 miles north of Beirut, Tripoli is Lebanon's second-largest city and the main port and trading centre for northern Lebanon. In recent years it has had much attention and is found to be more modern than the rest of Lebanon, but it's main attractions are its medieval history and Mamluk architecture still left in the old part of the city.
