Almería airport is located about 9 Kilometres east of the city and there are numerous charter companies who fly in and out of Almería, making it the second most important airport in terms of foreign tourist arrivals in Spain. In fact there are no scheduled flights here from the UK. The airport is located on the very edge of the Mediterranean Sea.

The Almería Coast is situated to the south of Spain, in eastern Andalusia, where the Mediterranean coastline changes from the south to the east of country (levante). • The Almeria Fair, which takes place during the last two weeks of August. As well as much drinking and dancing, the Fair holds various sporting events, religious acts and bullfights. Most of the celebrations take place in the numerous tent-like-pavilions pitched in the fairground.

Must see in Almeria

• Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park - This natural park of 29,000 hectares is Andalucia's largest coastal nature park. The park can be accessed from the west via the village of San Miguel. The mountain range of Cabo de Gata has a distinctly volcanic appearance and the waters are of the peninsula are ideal for underwater photography.
• Mojecar - This Moorish fortress town stands on a towering crag overlooking the mediterranean. Its Moorish fortress called El Torreón and the Arch of Luciana, as well as the maze of whitewashed, winding streetsattracts the tourists every year. It is also said that American cartoonist Walt Disney was born here, before emigrating with his parents to the United States.
• Almeria City Museum - This museum contains numerous objects discovered by the well-known Belgian mining engineer, Louis Siret.
