Car Hire Belfast:: Belfast City AirportBelfast City Airport
Belfast International Airport (Aldergrove) lies about a twenty five minute drive (traffic conditions allowing) from the very centre of Ulster’s capital city. It is a busy airport with just a single terminal building occupying two floors which underwent a substantial program of modernisation in 2004 that resulted in the creation of an impressive departure area containing a large range of retail outlets and other facilities provided for the enjoyment of the 180000 or so passengers who pass through this terminal each month. Airport facilities include the usual fashion and gift shops and excellent banking facilities, together with a good range of cafes, bars and restaurants. There is a first rate tourist information centre with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The airport has a mobile broadband connection, the entire airport being covered by the BT Openzone system allowing wireless connection to the internet throughout the complex. About Belfast Belfast is the capital and major city in the province of Northern Ireland. Although it had a somewhat slow beginning as a settlement, it grew from the site of a Norman fortified settlement in the 12th century to a 19th century jewel in the United Kingdom’s industrial crown, being the hub of vital industries including shipbuilding and the manufacture of linen cloth. It was granted city status in 1888 and has seen massive growth and prosperity ever since. Much damaged both physically and economically during the sectarian troubles of three decades in the 20th century, the city has recovered amazingly well since the ceasefire and is increasingly becoming a favourite tourist destination. Breathtaking countryside surrounds this great city with mountains, peat moors and soft, green meadows right on the doorstep. The sea is never more than a short trip away and the rugged coastline as well as the famous Giants Causeway are sights not to be missed.
