Car Hire Orlando :: Orlando District Guide

The City of Orlando is situated in the centre of Florida. Local statistics indicate that some 35 million tourists travel there each year. It is also one of America's premier retirement areas attracting people from all over the United States, who are drawn here by the superb climate and its reputation as a fun place to be. It is of course, close to the gigantic Universal Studios - only four miles away and an attraction in itself, and the incredible Walt Disney World – some 20 miles down the road. It is at the hub of American tourism, being a vast amusement arcade and attracting people who wish to sample the delights of the man made attractions, as well as the wonderful climate and sea coasts with mile upon mile of sandy beaches, in their droves.

Orlando indeed has much to offer. It prides itself on its cultural scene and is home to some good museums with the Orlando Museum of Art and the Orlando Science Centre being of particular merit. Everything is covered, from native history to the evolution of modern art in America. A large city, the largest in fact in Florida, it has been in the holiday business for a long time and has learnt to cater for the tourists' every need and pleasure. It is known as the playground capital and it has been suggested that more money is spent in the pursuit of pleasure in this city than in Las Vegas – only on different things!

In fairness, Orlando owes a lot of its reputation for a premier holiday destination on the Walt Disney Corporation, because the majority of people arrive here solely in order to experience a trip to this enormous emporium of fun and laughter.
